The Season Begins
Posted by lapazfarm on December 3rd, 2006 filed in Random RamblingsOn this, the first Sunday of Advent we pray:
Stir up Thy might, we beg Thee, O Lord, and come, so that we may escape through Thy protection and be saved by Thy help from the dangers that threaten us because of our sins. Who livest and reignest for ever and ever.
What we’ll be doing:
In honor of “stir-up sunday” we will be making this lovely white fruitcake (Recipe compliments of Rebecca at Heart of the Kitchen) and all take turns “stirring it up!”
We will also be contemplating just exactly how we want to make our Jesse Tree ornaments. I’ve seen alot of them made from various materials, but the “just right for us” method has not hit me yet. It will, eventually. I hope.
You see, we are officially moving this month. We finally have a home of our own and we are very pleased, but the timing couldn’t be worse, litugically speaking, LOL!
I was feeling a bit overwhelmed about all that has to be done to prepare for the Season. All the crafts and unit-studies we COULD be doing. All the lovely things others are doing and I am NOT was beginning to make me feel a bit melancholy (OK, I was pouting). But then I read this absolutely perfect poem at Among Women and I feel all better now. What a wonderful way to put it all back into perspective, Amy! Thanks!

Congratulations on your move! How exciting!! (but yeah, it’s going to be a busy month for you, isn’t it?) Try not to stress about what isn’t getting done… Moving is a biggie and full of lots of “life lessons” for the kids.
Happy First Sunday of Advent too… Unfortunately, we aren’t able to go to Mass (it’s just impossible for M, he starts acting very strange and we always end up leaving
so stopping by and reading about what other Catholic families are doing helps me feel more connected to my Catholic roots.

You’re welcome!
Seriously though - CONGRATULATIONS on finding a house! I’m LOLing about your sense of humor - I’ve never heard of a moving being at a liturgically bad time. But I understand!
Good luck with all the move entails, we’ll be praying for you!!
