More advent fun

We had a busy day today making arrangements for our move to our new house, but made a little time for a couple of advent activities.

Superboy was in the Christmas spirit!

We made two more  Jesse tree ornaments to add to the 4 we made yeasterday (but still have not drilled the holes to hang them on the tree.) Today was Abraham’s tent, and the altar upon which Isaac was to be sacrificed, with heavenly rays representing the angel who staid Abraham’s hand.

And lets not forget that today is St. Nicholas day! Superboy made more spoon saints, for both the traditional St. Nicholas, and the modern Santa Claus version!

I was very pleased that he remembered many of the symbols for St. Nicholas that we learned last year in our Christmas unit study and the stories behind them. He chose to use the shepherd’s crook (aka crozier, representing his title as bishop) and the three gold balls or coins (representing the dowries he paid for the three poor maidens) .

JBug colored pictures of St. Nicholas and glued pennies to the picture to represent the gold he gave.

Then alas, it was time to get back to the business of preparing to move.

Tomorrow is St. Ambrose and Superboy will be altar serving for the Immaculate Conception vigil mass immediately following Karate, plus I am meeting the plumber and  heating/air guys at the new house.  Should be yet another busy day! When will I ever get any Christmas shopping done?

I just looked at your Christmas notebook. That is completely awesome! You have such good ideas. Our notebooks are more a conglomeration glued on pages. I need to get more creative. Thanks for the inspiration.

Your Christmas notebook from last year was supercool, Superboy! It showed me how to better organize all the information we are gathering this year for our notebook. As always, you guys really inspire me!

My girls loved your St. Nicholas figures. And, as always they wanted to see more pictures of JBug! I guess even little girls can have internet-friends!!!

I just read your comments on “Three Plus Two” about Angela’s Caddie Woodlawn / skirt / dress posting. I “seconded” your comment.
