Tomatowhat?

I’ve come across a few resources I’d like to share, just in case anyone else can use them:

Tomatosphere: Thanks to a tip at Leonie’s blog, we’ve enrolled in the Tomatosphere project. This is a project where you receive two sets of tomato seeds, one of which has been treated with conditions simulating a space environment (negative 80 degrees C and low atmospheric pressure) for 18 days. It is a blind test so you don’t know which seeds are treated and which are the control. Anyway, you grow the seeds and chart results, share results, etc. Lots of teacher resurces at the site for multiple grades. Oh, and it’s free. I thought it sounded cool so we signed up.  I’d LOVE it if some more folks we “knew” signed up, too!

Hubbard’s Cupboard: this sight is just packed full of ideas for teaching kindergarten. If you have a kid in that age range, get on over there and check out the resources! I especially like the resources under the “Literacy” tab, like the printable sight word books and  word family books, the photos of the ABC centers, gosh! Just so much from which to gain ideas!

Waterford Games: Tons of printable games, activities and quizzes which are very well done and fun, mostly related to animals. Great for a rainy day! We really like the matching animal tracks and the animal signs quizzes, the mazes, and the picture scrambles make great little puzzles, too! (I don’t remember where I came across this link, but let me know and I will give you credit!)

Thanks for the heads up! We are now patiently waiting for our tomato seeds!

The tomato project sounds very interesting! Are you already planning gardens on your new property? A Spaced Out Pizza Garden of Tomato-Pepper-Basil would be fun! Maybe round with an edging of Chives to represent the crust and keep out weeds?

Cute idea, Jennifer! I am just planning to do a few raised beds this year and a pizza bed sounds good!

Your blog is always so helpful to me. I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old, so I enjoy seeing the activities you do with the little ones. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for letting us know about the Tomatosphere. I’ve signed our family up.

I signed GB and I up for this about a week ago. I think it will be really interesting. Lately, he’s been very interested in space, so I think he’ll like this project. It’ll be great knowing some of the other families are doing it, also.

Thanks for the resources. Hubbard’s Cupboard is fabulous. There are so many ideas for 3 year olds and some of their photos and outside links are wonderful as well.
