Meet the Prophets
I’d like to introduce you to Isaiah and Micah.

Now that these two prophets of old have joined us, I am finally ready to begin the Advent presentations from Moira Farrell’s Home Catechesis 3-6 albums. I know I am a bit late, but you know what they say: better late than never. It’s not a perfect motto, but one I strive to uphold.
These guys were pretty fun to make. I used some silk pieces (from a fabric sample book I picked up at a yard sale) because I wanted them to stand out a bit from the Apostles I made last year, who are all dressed in earth-toned felt. I admit, though I have no idea what they should look like to be “authentic.” What exactly DOES the well-dressed prophet of God wear? I took a chance on the beards as well, but for all I know they could have been clean-shaven. Seems like in the movies all of those guys had beards, right? Well, at least I picture them that way. I made the beards and hair from some recently purchased wool roving (thanks Stephanie!).
So the challenge now is to get caught up on the presentations. The first is the Advent wreath, which I have out already. The second is Isaiah’s prophecy, and the third is Micah’s.
After that comes the Annunciation. I just finished making theĀ “Mary’s house” backdrop for that. Oh, and I still need to glue the wing back on my Angel Gabriel (who looks much more like a Gabrielle, I must admit).
And then comes the Visitation. I still need to make a pregnant doll figure for Elizabeth, and an “Elizabeth’s house” backdrop for that one.
Then, of course, comes the Nativity. I think I have everything I need for that. I could use another shepherd, but I think we can get by with what we have if necessary.
Whew! Christmas here we come!

We don’t do the presentations, but I think next week we will have to make some scenes just for fun!
Oh they look so good, I need to make Micah still but our Isaiah is much like Andrea’s at Gray Family Circus. I hopeto get to these today or tomorrow too, we REALLY enjoyed our Isaiah presentation, the kids were mesmerized
Blessings!
Love how they came out. I’m so far behind in preparing my presentations! Never would have thought of the silk. But it looks really cool! I do validate the liberal use of facial hair – you gotta cover up that wooden ball somehow! And I’m glad to see how you used the flocking, I bought some for the same purpose. Helpful to see. THanks for sharing Theresa.
What great prophets, Theresa! Marianna and I were planning on making a little St. Lucia and the Starboys out of wooden people things this week but I was called in to work. Which is a good thing, we have a detachment in and the tips are always nice then.
