Guest post by Superboy: A great book
Feb 7th, 2008 by lapazfarm
Today I welcome a guest poster to my blog-12yo Superboy. He has a book he would like to recommend, so without further ado, here is what Superboy has to say:
The Invention of Hugo Cabret, by Brian Selznik, is a great book about a 12yo boy who lives in Paris and secretly works as timekeeper in the train station. Hugo is an orphan and all he has of his parents is his father’s automaton-a mechanical man sitting at a desk with a pen in his hand. Hugo wants to fix the automaton because he is lonely, and has to steal parts from a toy booth to fix it. I really liked how part of the story is told through the many great pictures in the book. The only problem is that it had so many pictures that I finished the book way too quickly. Anyone who likes to read about magic, Paris, or inventions would love this book. Ages 10 and up.

Thanks, Superboy! I’m sure my 10 yo would love this. And guess what? His birthday is Sunday. Is that great timing, or what?
Thanks, Superboy! I’ll be reading your review to my Bookworm when he wakes up. He is scheduled to read this for his Book Group next month.
Good to know! Thank you! We will be sure to pick up a copy of this book. My children will get a kick out of it.
Thank you for the wonderful review. I will let me son know about it. You did a great job.
Thanks for this review – I’ll be sure to mark it on a list for my daughter. I especially appreciate the age recommendation.
This book sounds so fun and interesting! My girls love magic and they might love to take a look at this one! Thanks for the tip!
Ooh, this sounds intriguing! I can’t wait to check it out–sounds right up my Jane’s alley. Thanks for the review!
I think that this is a book that my girls would be interested in. I will have them place it in their wish list. Thank you for sharing the information.
When I went to reserve this book online at our library, my “hold queue position” was 31. This MUST be a good book–or, at least, a popular one!
Eventually, though, I’ll be able to share my 10-year-old son and will let you know what we think. Thanks for reviewing it!
Um…I meant to say “Share ‘it with’ my 10-year-old”…as I have no intention of sharing my son!
