Pet crafts

In honor of the feast of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of our homeschool, the kiddos made some gifts for our dear pets.
Here Superboy is using this pattern to whip up some snow booties for our dog, Cassie:

Tell me, ladies, you don’t think less of him just because he can operate a sewing machine, right? You know he is all boy, right?LOL!

Well, Cassie wasn’t exactly thrilled–booties take some getting used to apparently, but here she is showing off her new, warm, purple snow booties (while Hobbes looks on making sure he isn’t going to be the next victim of our generosity):

Luckily for Hobbes no kitty booties were in store today, but a cute goldfish play-toy made from this pattern:

JBug did a great job cutting, stitching and stuffing the fish with beans.

What cat could resist this fun toy?

(Yes, my daughter dresses herself, why do you ask?)
Happy feast of St Francis!

Superboy is a modern man. That makes him totally cool in my eyes.
And JBug…wow! what a smile. I’ve always loved that little smile of hers, the one we see all the time. It’s so cute, but today’s smile is super cute.
If my dog saw those booties I’m sure he would be glad we’re not catholic.
Nah, we don’t think any less of Superboy. Heck, Christopher just finished up a crochet lesson with me about 30 minutes ago.
Tell JBug she did a great job on that fish and that my kitten would love it!
What a great idea for celebrating St.Francis’ feast day. Your beloved pets are very blessed to belong to such a loving, and talented family. Great job, Superboy and JBug!!
Oh… He is going to make one women very luckly!
I love the ideas for your pets!
yes, don’t you just love how they dress themself… worest is when they are dressing their younger sister ..oh boy!
Are you nuts??? My dh is way better with a sewing machine than I am. In fact, at this latest job site he has multiple monster sewing machines that scare the bejeezus outta me! Have you ever seen a machine that an 80 lb scuba cylinder can go thru – sideways – to be strapped and covered for covert operations? He can keep that one, but I am envious of his new Sailrite…
What fun, I personally think the dog looks rather stylish and that JBug couldn’t be any cuter! Oh and Superboy, “you the man!”
Both of ‘em did a great job!
Didn’t medieval knights knit and sew?
Absolutely not do we think any less of Superboy – in fact its great. My Dad (who invented the first computer in the world at Sydney Uni and is a Science/Electrical engineer Professor) could use a sewing machine at the same age – he taught himself and sewed to earn money during war time. He’s no push-over and neither is Superboy. Its a skill.
My girls dress themselves too – what does it matter what they look like, they are being independant and it puts a low priority on what society thinks we should look like – great huh?
Somewhere I’ve got a photo of my college roommate’s fiance, the fighter pilot, whipping up a Halloween costume on my sewing machine. Maybe when Superboy bags his first caribou, he can sew himself some really authentic Alaska clothes.
JBug’s cat toy looks great, and she looks so proud.
I bet that is a great photo, Ellen! I’d love to see it!
Superboy totally rocks! (BTW..HoneyGirl still thinks he’s tops…just geographically undesirable at this stage
Love JBug’s fishy!
That’s precious!!!
I love the booties and the fish!
