Architecture part 1: Itty bitty city
Nov 13th, 2008 by lapazfarm
Both Superboy and JBug have absolutely gone construction mad!
It’s not exactly what I had imagined when I “strewed” all those architecture books the other day…
it’s better!
First up is JBug’s work in progress, “Itty bitty city”:

using some halloween candy boxes and a few odds and ends…

she is creating…

and building…

and decorating…

an itty bitty city! And she is not nearly done yet!
I can’t wait to see where she goes with this!!! What fun!!!
Each day she wakes up and says, “Can I work on my city now, pleeeeease???” And I can most joyfully answer “YES!”
Of course you know Superboy is not one to be outdone…
Stay tuned for architecture part 2: Colossal castle!

That’s awesome! She’s doing a great job!
I know you went on a craft hiatus for a while but with your current project, I had to make sure you saw this. It is something that is definitely on my list of things to try with my daughter. (She’s a “builder”, too…big time).

BTW, I love your new trays. You are an inspiration.

Very cool idea. Great job JBug!
I love the itty bitty city. It is so clever. I cannot wait to see the final results.
Ha! That looks like so much fun.
My children also love crafting and creating with paper and cardboard and paint. The only problem (for me) is that eventually it has to get cleared away. We have a small house, for one thing.
What do you do about that, Theresa? My children hate to be parted from their cities, landscapes, animal-people-alien populations and so on but after a while there’s just *too much* of it all. It’s not the same as being able to carefully pack away the watercolor paintings and so on.
She had such a great idea with the little boxes for the buildings!
I had the brilliant idea once upon a time to wrap loads of tiny little boxes in X-Mas wrap and pile them in a glass bowl on the table for an awesome centerpiece for the holidays. It took forever and as soon as my back was turned dd would grab one and unwrap it and be sooo disappointed that there was nothing in it! I guess I should have left the candy inside the boxes!
What fun!
Oh, I can’t wait to see his! Jbug’s looks great…how fun!!! Madison would love that!
I love the city idea. How fun!
Amazing! Can’t wait to see what Superboy is doing!
Theresa I am a bit slower then you I think
but today we did the dr. suess creative creatures and the two boys have been playing for over an hour
Of course being boys the games quickly changed into aliens .

We’ve a bucket of clay from the beach I think we’ll try using for the building next week .
What I really want to ask you and I don’t have your e-mail so maybe you could e-mail me is .
Do you have any good snowfalke book suggestions ? As well as how about dog sledding books ? dh & ds12 are going dog sledding this winter and I’d love to read with him about this subject before they head out .
If you have any ideas or books please please send them along to me
Again Thanks so much for the inspiration ,once again I feel I can just be mum
God Bless
Beautiful job,JBug!
Great work! I love those imaginations of theirs.
When I grow up and know what I’m doing with this homeschooling thing we’re doing, I want to be just like you. I have to get rid of the “trained teacher” in me first I think. Toss her to the corner and tell her to stay there because she’s not welcome back into this house. I absolutely LOVE the creativity your children show and I do credit you with that…You are able to just let go and let them learn. Yes, I want to be like you when I grow up
That is really clever and a great way to recycle.
