works in progress

We are currently working on several things here. I don’t have any final products to show you, but I just wanted to give you a glimpse of our days when we are deep in the thick of things—a middle-view, so to speak, rather than always showing the ends.

This is the latest part of Superboy’s Colossal Castle that he has been working on for awhile–one of the interior structures. Just to show you the level of detail he is going for.
Today we tried our hands at making an Ice wreath (discovered via Whip Up).

We assembled them inside and then set them out on our snow-covered picnic table to freeze overnight.

I can’t wait to see how they turn out tomorrow!
JBug has been working on making a set of paper dolls from around the world. Here is her Dutch girl:

She is using this pad of paper people and these lovely global village papers. Fun!

Superboy is trying his hand at a new art technique called Repousse, which is a type of metal embossing (lesson plan found here). He is very much enjoying working with the soft metal sheets, and is achieving some neat effects. I can’t wait to see the final product!
Well, that is it for the middle view for now. I will return soon hopefully with pics of the final products!

Thanks for sharing the link for the people paper and beautiful papers for clothing! My daughter will LOVE creating with these! It’s inspiring to see all that your whole family is doing — I’ll look forward to seeing the finished castle. What a difference between his careful, thoughtful and quite beautiful work and the cardboard castle I slapped together in a few hours for an 8th grade project!
I can’t wait to see your ice wreath. I would love to make one, but it would not last one minute here down in The South.
I’ve never heard of an ice wreath – what a great idea! We may need to try that. The castle is looking great!
Thank you for showing the “middle” work! Your kids are working on such wonderful projects. I LOVE seeing all the snow in the background. It is just beautiful.
It looks awesome! Thanks for being such a rich source of creative ideas.
They are doing really cool stuff!
I always feel like saying WOW when I comment here. I’ve been away from reading blogs for awhile and you guys have been busy! I love what you’re doing. Great ideas that I think my dc would enjoy.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the wreath idea!
The ice wreath is incredible! I *almost* wish it was cold enough here in southern Kentucky to hang one outside.
Ok Theresa we are so going to make these wreaths today !!! I’ve been away , not online much and it is so fun because then it is a real treat when I arrive here
God Bless !
