Earth Hour flashlight walk
Mar 28th, 2009 by lapazfarm
In order to celebrate Earth Hour this year we turned off all our lights (of course) and then took the opportunity to take a flashlight walk down to the beach. It was a wonderful night!

Who could these ghouls be???

You guessed it! Jack-Jack and Squirt were with us this weekend and joined us on our night jaunt.
Flashlights in hand, off we went to see what we can see in the sea at night!

We looked high…

and we looked low…

along the wall and behind the rocks…

we saw a crab, a small fish, and several kinds of mysterious egg masses…

and watched the lights sparkle on the waves.

We used the last bit of the hour to do a bit of swinging…

then we took our flashlights and headed for home!
I highly recommend a flashlight walk, and not only for Earth Hour, but any time! It was so much fun! We can’t wait to do this again!

Awesome! The beach at night is one of my very favorite things.
What a great adventure! Looks like everyone was having fun!
I envy you all, in your shorts and t-shirts. We’ll take our flashlight walk when it’s a bit warmer, hopefully in a couple of weeks. Sparklee
Oh, what a terrific idea! Looks like a wonderful idea. And, I’m curious about those eggs…
Looks like Mother Nature didn’t disappoint at the beach! A great way to spend Earth Hour!
Watch the water for phosphorescent sea worms this time of year. We have a few right beside the boat tonight. They are amazing!
What a wonderful idea… we’ll have to take a flashlight hike soon. (Probably not tonight, we’ve got more snow coming!) We celebrated earth hour too, and the kids had so much fun they want to do it more often!
RYC- The vet wasn’t able to drain the abscess so we are waiting for it to work it’s way out.
I hope it doesn’t take too long…
We love the hermit crabs at night on the beach. I love how the beach feels like a totally different place at night. It’s hard to imagine all of the people and sunshine when you go down there at night with the flashlights!
