Bunny math
Apr 5th, 2009 by lapazfarm
Just in time for Easter! Here is a fun way to get in the bunny mood, do some math, and get some of the wiggles out.
Draw the numbers 1-10 in a straight line on your sidewalk, driveway, whatever. Ask your child to hop like a bunny from one number to the next to find the answer to problems you call out, such as this:
“If the Easter bunny has three eggs in his basket…

and then the chicken gives him 5 more eggs to color, how many does he have?

Your child hops forward 5 hops and calls out “eight!”
Then start the next problem where they left off. “If the bunny has eight eggs in his basket and gives two to the girl down the street, how many does he have left?”(child hops back the other way 2 hops and calls out”six!” etc.)
Trust me, this can go on for hours.
Now, hop to it!

I am going to be trying this one out! Thanks.

Oh, we do this all the time, it’s amazing how much school you can do on the sidewalk.
We’ve hopscotched the 13 colonies, I did letters and they had to spell, we hopscotched geometry terms, shapes, time….just give me chalk and we’ll be out there all day.
that is such a cute idea!
streaming mental math- I love it.
