What a difference a year makes…
Posted on November 21st, 2009 by lapazfarm
I was looking through my blog archives a bit and stumbled across a couple of posts fromĀ precisely one year ago. I found it almost startling to see the difference a single year can make.
Here are some pics from one year ago this week:

And these are pics from this week:

As different as night and day. I’ll leave it up to your imagination as to which we prefer. You might just be surprised.

Ah! You can’t imagine how much I wish to be where you are now!
Have a nice sunday!
What an amazing difference! And how wonderful that your children have experienced both.
As far as your favorite, I really don’t know – you all look happy in both settings. As for me, I’d LOVE to visit the cold climate, but would prefer to live in the warm one!
Beautiful photos!
I am guessing that you might like Alaska better? It just seems so magical…
Ah, those pics make me so homesick! So I guess you know which one I’d prefer!
Beautiful photos of both settings. Personally, I prefer to live in a place with four distinct seasons. Alaska is on my “someday” list!

Wow what a difference.I’d love to visit Alaska; but I’m a southerner at heart. New England is about as much as I can bear for cold weather and short dark winter days.
Well, being that I live in the UK.. I personally would love the snow! And oh my goodness the photo of the Northern Lights – something I’ve never seen myself.
Now THAT’S a change of venue! All your photos are fabulous.

Those lights in the sky were amazing! I’d have to say I’d like the warm beach weather better.
Well, they’re both beautiful, that’s for sure! I know which I prefer – I’d be very curious to know about you!
Hi Theresa,
Longtime lurking fan here. I remember seeing the Alaska pictures last year and thinking how magical a Christmas in that sort of setting would be. I was born in Holland and moved to New Zealand at the age of 14, and still miss the northern hemisphere season. On the other hand, having a barbeque at Christmas with fresh strawberries and cream (as well as NZ’s iconic pavlova – and don’t believe any Aussies who tell you it’s theirs! ;o) and being able to spend time at the beach also has something going for it…
I’d be most interested to hear which you prefer.
And also a big Thank You for your continuing inspiration. Your recent “I should have known better” post was just what I needed that day! I know you have written about it before (because I have the posts printed out) but I would love to hear more on how you go about creating your “tinders”
)
Gee, I dunno, it’s a toss up. How about 6 months here and 6 months there??? Love the contrast sweetie! Hugs to you adventurous ones
I am guessing the snow?! I would pick 4 seasons and I am not sure you really get that either place. You all look happy both places.
Blessings,
Dawn
I remember those photos … and how much you all seemed to be reveling in living in Alaska, so that would be my first thought. Still, now you’re back with the little boys, so there’s that too … A big year (or so) of changes for you all!
I’m with Meredith, half of each!! I still remember the video of the boiling water turning to ice mid-air. It was great!!! How lucky you all have been to get to experience two such wonderful places…AND the great state of NC.
As much as I love warm weather, something about the snow just seems more magical.
Great photos but I don’t relish seeing snow anytime soon-lol. Love the shot of the frozen wreath too.
