Our year in the sun…and off we go again
Dec 31st, 2009 by lapazfarm
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
What a wonderful year 2009 has been!
I believe I will always look back warmly on this past year and think of it as “Our Year in the Sun.”
It has been a blessing to call Key Largo our home for this past year. Such a beautiful place, truly a tropical paradise. We’ve loved having the sun on our skin, our toes in the sand, warm tropic breezes, good friends, blue water…

but we have decided that the place where we left our hearts a year ago,
the place that called to us for so many years,
the place we loved and lost too quickly,
is the place where we truly belong…
So shortly after the new year, we are off again, following our hearts. Next stop…
Sitka, Alaska!

sigh — you lucky ducks : ).
Seems I miss Alaska more every year I’m away.
Very best wishes for your year 2010 at the last frontier!
Thanks, Willa! I had a feeling you’d “get” why we want to go back.
Oh wow. Congratulations. Can’t wait to hear about the next adventure. Wherever you are you always seem to find beautiful places.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year and good luck with the move!
So happy for you– and I’m looking forward to reading your adventures as you return to Alaska! Best wishes during your move!
Love the anti-spam word … smile! Can’t wait to follow your adventures back in Alaska. Lots and lots of pictures, please
.
Happy New Year! Good luck on the big move. I think that it is great that you are going back.
Good luck! My husband had family living in Sitka for years; we were just talking about whether anyone is still there or if they have all moved away. We came to the conclusion that his aunt may still be there. All that side of the family loved living there. My boys loved your whale video
.
Happy New Year and all the best for your move. I am looking forward to seeing your beautiful photos from Alaska.
Ha! Off you go on another adventure.
Congratulations on your decision. Looking forward to more fantastic photos.
OM goodness, you are kidding me!!! That figures. We *finally* get a baseball tournament going to Florida this summer (albeit in the panhandle) and you are MOVING AGAIN! I was just thinking how I could fanagle my way to the keys on some off days (or after the tourney is over), but now those little ideas will be scrapped. There is *definitely* no chance of a tourney trip to Alaska.
Still, I am kind of happy. This means I will still have a contact in Alaska. We would so love to see even just a tiny bit of that state!
Best wishes for your move back north and have a most blessed new year!
Praying that your dreams become a reality in 2010. And also praying for a smooth home-going to Alaska for your family.

That video gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes.
That surprised me.
Sunshine is a wondrous thing, to be sure.
But Home is even better.
I spent a week in Ketchikan in 1998, and it’s been calling to me ever since, so I understand your wanting to go back. Good luck with the move and I hope this time it works out so much better for you all!
Wow! I wish you safe and happy travels.

I’m not entirely surprised! Although you looked relaxed & happy during this year in FL, your posts didn’t quite match the awe and excitement of the posts from your time in Alaska. Can’t wait to read all about your new adventures!
I’m so happy for you all. And, I know you’ll look back fondly on your year in the sun. I look forward to seeing your adventures in Alaska!
Happy New Year!
Dana
Wow, Theresa! Have fun.
We’re enjoying bracing the winter weather here in CT these days, but Alaska makes this look like the tropics!
Can’t wait to see what’s in store for all of you.
Oh, amazing! I wish you the best! Happy and colorful new year!
How wonderful for you! I hope your move goes smoothly. We have enjoyed following your sunny exploits, but we still talk about the video of Superboy throwing the boiling water out the door in Alaska! Can’t wait for more snowy exploits!
I’m so excited for you! i can’t wait to follow along with your blog on another adventure!
How beautiful life is, following your heart and experiencing so much excitement and joy! Happy new year! Sounds like it will be a great one.
Wow…Step way for a few months and this is what happens!!! Enjoy what the road brings…and maybe we’ll pass you along the way some time. Hubby wants to do an Alaskan holiday this summer if he can find the time.
Happy New Year and congrats! Alaska looks so beautiful, so here’s to a smooth move! We have been reading about Alaska alot lately as we have been reading about the life of Father Herman of Alaska (an Eastern Orthodox saint). He was also an Alaska lover!
All the best,
Kristie
Congrats on your move! We love the marine biology, will you be continuing it? If you stop in Seattle on your way leave us a comment and we would love to meet you!
We will be continuing, but I will need some collaborators to help with the next couple weeks because I’ll be unavailable. Let me know if you’d like to write up some plans for the arthropods section!
Oh my goodness from one lovely place to another. And her I am fretting wondering if I’ll ever get use to NE winters when we move from Daytona Beach, FL back to NJ! Love the video. Before you leave.. have you seen the manatees that are plenty this time of year at Blue Springs Park? Gorgeous. They’re everywhere. If it wasn’t going to be so cold this weekend (for FL) I’d head over there to see them.
What?!! Wow! Back to Alaska! Awesome!
