The view from here
Feb 2nd, 2010 by lapazfarm
I’m back! And it’s good to be back. I’ve missed my bloggy friends!
We have finally moved into our new place here in Sitka. It’s a rental, and the house is a “cozy cottage” (aka tiny little run-down shack), but you absolutely cannot beat the view from here.
This is straight out the front yard:

to the left, a view of the harbor and town, and the mountains beyond:

(I’m loving those cloud formations! So compelling!)
To the right, gorgeous Edgecumbe volcano looks as if it is floating in the mist:

With views like that, we can deal with “cozy” wouldn’t you say?
But admittedly, this is the view I am seeing most of the time:

That view will be changing, little by little, though it’ll take some time to get it all unpacked and properly arranged. The trick is to assign a priority to everything and unpack in a logical order according to those priorities:

Though we don’t always agree on what those priorities should be…

Silly me, thinking the first thing we needed was a functional kitchen!
Oh, well. To each his own, right?
See ya next time!

Absolutely breathtaking. So glad you’ve found such an incredible place, and I’m so, so, so looking forward to sharing the view with you in the coming months!
Wow! Just Wow!
oh wow…
hope you’re settling in nicely.
still awe that you are back, but not here locally. still far away. hope to hear from you soon.

How do you do it??!! Amazing! We are in the process of selling and buying a home (in the same area!) and I’m exhausted with everything there is to do. You are amazing! And so are your views!!
Love reading your blog…so inspiring!

Oh, that is so gorgeous!!! Enjoy the view.
And, thanks for sharing it with the rest of us!
looks like you are in a beautiful spot!
Glad you’re back, both on the blog and in Alaska!
Well, your tiny little run-down shack has a million dollar view! I’d take it
You’re right – the view is stunning.
Good luck with the unpacking and organizing and remember to take frequent breaks and enjoy the view!!
Wow that is some view!!! Good luck with the unpacking.
Beautiful! I can understand your love for the place, as I imagine it’s even more beautiful in person. Still, I couldn’t handle the weather. Two weeks of a freeze here in Central FL and I was ready to pack up and move to The Keys! Right now it’s 60, and I’m dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt.
Good luck with unpacking. I’m pretty sure my 12 yo guy would agree with Superboy’s priorities.
They are beautiful pictures – just amazing.
My husband wants to visit Alaska next year but I know nothing about the place, but having seen your pictures I have to admit I am pretty keen!
You live next door to a volcano?!? How cool is that.
So glad you are back blogging. What a beautiful place you picked! Okay, trying not to be too nosey here, but what does your husband do for work? Can my husband too? Would love to be home schooling in Sitka!
Oh it looks wonderful Theresa ! the volcano is so beautiful ! hey I say what ever gets you thru those feb blues be it guitar hero or dark chocolate, you’re right to each his own
What an incredible place! Gorgeous!
Stunning view! Beautiful.
